CHAMBERLIN

Greetings from Texas in the U.S.A. I am researching the life and work of a gentleman who spent part of his childhood in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire. In 1851, he lived with his parents at 38 Jameson Bridge Street. Can you tell me, please, whether that address is the site of a residence that would have been there in that census year? His father was a cabinet maker: Robert Chamberlin. His mother was Eliza Barker Chamberlin, daughter (according to one secondary source) of a tavern keeper. Census information lists her birthplace as Tealby, very near Market Rasen. Their first child, Humphrey Barker Chamberlin, was born in Manchester. The family emigrated to the U.S.A. sometime during the 1850s. I wonder if any relatives still live in Market Rasen? If so, and if they are willing to correspond with me, I believe we could exchange genealogical and historical information. I am happy to share the results of my own research. Contact: Juliet George.
